New York Army National Guard Spc. Wiwczar is assigned to Security Force Detachment C, part of the 27th Brigade Combat Team's preparations for deployment as Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix. The troops in the security force formed from the Bayshore-based company of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, the Army's famed "Fighting 69th." The task force will deploy to Afghanistan later this spring to mentor and train Afghan national army and police forces.
