MENANDS--Major Stephen Kitchen a member of the New York National Guards 42nd Infantry Division headquarters and a veteran of the 1st Battalion 69th Infantryand another Soldier place a memorial wreath at the Grand Army of the Republic monument in the Soldiers Lot of Albany Rural Cemetery on March 10 2019. Veterans of the New York National Guards 1st Battalion 69th Infantry who live in the Albany N.Y.- area marked the graves of Irish-American Civil War Soldiers at Albany Rural Cemetery and St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery to acknowledge the link between their service and the 69th Infantry which was historically an Irish-American unit and part of the Irish Brigade during the war.
