Description:The Known Distance (KD) Range is designed for training rifle marksmanship and target engagement techniques. This range is used to train personnel on the skills necessary to identify, engage, and hit stationary targets in a static array from a known distance. Current distances are 100, 200, and 300 yards. Unit must coordinate, in advance, if firing lines are needed in meters.

Weapons Authorized:   M16/ M4, M249

Ammunition Authorized:   7.62, 5.56, 308, 223 (**No ammo ballistically superior to 7.62mm/.308cal)

Number of Firing Positions:   22

Targetry:   Lifter system w/ Paper Silhouettes

Range Facilities:   Wooden Target Holders, Left and Right limit of fire markers, and Flag pole.

Primary Use:   M16/M4 Marksmanship qualification

Alternate Use:   M249/ M240B Field/Familiarization Fire

This range is operated under a deviation waiver with a prominent Compensating Terrain Feature and off -setting control measures in the form of OIC/RSO Certification to reduce distance “X” of the surface danger zone (SDZ).

**This range denies RANGE 2 AT 100 YARDS DENIES RANGES 2A , 3A ENTRANCE ROAD (Range 2 will be put in Check-Fire status during unit movement to and from Range 3A) and 3 (ALL KD), RANGE 5, NBC 8, TA1, TA4
*RANGE 2 AT 200 AND 300 YARDS DENIES RANGE 2A, 3A, 3 (ALL KD), RANGE 5, UAC, NBC 8, HELIPAD, ALL ROADS IN VALLEY, TA 1, TA 4

*OIC/RSO will confirm TA's 1 and 4 status with Range Control prior to requesting “hot” status.

One scarlet range flag will be used to secure this facility.

Yellow flag indicates maintenance operations downrange.
