Description: The Known Distance (KD) Range is designed for training rifle marksmanship and target engagement techniques. This range is used to train personnel on the skills necessary to identify, engage, and hit stationary targets in a static array from a known distance. Current distances are 200, 300, 500 and 600 yards. Unit must coordinate, in advance, if firing lines are needed in meters.

Ammunition Authorized:   7.62, 5.56, .308cal, .223, (**No ammo ballistically superior to 7.62mm/.308cal)

Number of Firing Positions:   30

Targetry:   Lifter system w/ Paper Silhouettes

Range Facilities:   Wooden Target Holders, Left and Right limit of fire markers,Flag pole.

Primary Use:   M16/M4 Marksmanship qualification.

Alternate Use:   M249/ M240B Field/Familiarization Fire

Restrictions/Conflicts:

• This range is operated under a deviation waiver with a prominent Compensating Terrain Feature and off -setting control measures in the form of OIC/RSO Certification to reduce distance “X” of the surface danger zone (SDZ).
• This range denies Range RANGE 3 AT 200 YARDS DENIES RANGE 3A, 2 (ALL KD), ALL ROADS IN VALLEY, TA 4, (7.62 DENIES TA 5 SABRE ROAD)
• RANGE 3 AT 300 YARDS DENIES RANGE 3A, 2A, 2 (ALL KD), ALL ROADS IN VALLEY, TA4 AND TA5, SABRE ROAD
• RANGE 3 AT 500 YARDS DENIES RANGE 2A, 2 (ALL KD), 3A, 5, UAC COMPLEX, HELIPAD, NBC 8, ALL ROADS IN VALLEY, TA4 AND TA5; SABRE ROAD
• RANGE 3 AT 600 YARDS DENIES RANGE 2A, 2 (ALL KD), 3A, 5, UAC COMPLEX, HELIPAD, NBC 8, ALL ROADS IN VALLEY, TA4 AND TA5; SABRE ROAD; EST
• OIC/RSO will confirm TA's 1 and 4 status with Range Control prior to requesting “hot” status.
• The use of this range requires the following safety gates to be closed and or manned with internal communication capability:
  *  Range 3 at 200 yd line - Gates C2, D, E, G, & J Closed and C1 & F Closed and manned w/ comms.
• Range 3 at 300 yd line - Gates D, E, G, & J Closed and Gates C1 & F closed and manned w/ Comms.
• Range 3 at 500 and 600 yd line - D, E, G, & J Closed and C1 & F Closed and manned w/ comms.

Night/ Low Light Fire is authorized, Tracer Fire needs to be approved by the Post Director.
Steel Target Systems are not authorized.

Ball (military) and Hollow Point, Jacketed, Frangible (NMU) ammunition only.

One scarlet range flag will be used to secure this facility.

Yellow flag indicates maintenance operations downrange.
