Fort Ehele

Fort Ehele, 1777-1778, Montgomery County, Canajoharie. A single story stone house had been built in 1729 by John Ehle. In 1752 his son Peter added a second story which in 1777 was loopholed, minimally fortified and stockaded. Site is on Mapletown Road (Route 92) a few miles south of Fort Rensselaer.
