Fort Stevens Fort Stevens: Constructed on Hallett's Point, Queens, East River, 1814. Included a blockhouse on Mill Rock in the River at Hell Gate. Plans from Feb 1776 showed forts on both sides of the East River. Opposite here was Horn's Hook Battery. These fortifications may have dated from 1776.
