History
The 71st occupied the following locations prior to this armory being built:
- Centre Market Armory on Broadway between West 44th and West 45th streets
- brick building on West 32nd Street near 6th Avenue
- commercial building on Broadway between West 35th and West 36th streets
After the 1902 fire, a new armory was built on this same site and opened in 1906.
