3rd Artillery, Battery H Guidon

The NYS Battle Flag Collection includes one flag attributed to Battery H, 3rd Artillery (Light), NY Volunteers, a silk swallowtail guidon in the “stars and stripes” pattern as prescribed in General Order No. 4, dated January 18, 1862. Manufactured by Evans and Hassall of Philadelphia, the flag includes 35 painted stars in the canton. A piece of black net sewn to the sleeve and along the bottom hoist edge closely resembles the net used to encapsulate the flag in 1972. (2006.0318)

See the 3rd New York Light Artillery for more information about this unit.
