3rd Artillery, Battery M Guidon

The NYS Battle Flag Collection includes one flag attributed to Battery M, 3rd Artillery (Light), NY Volunteers, a silk swallowtail guidon in the “stars and stripes” pattern as prescribed in General Order No. 4, dated January 18, 1862. Approximately 60% of the flag remains including eleven stars, in whole or in part, from either a 34 or 35-star pattern. The battery's designation is painted to the lower three white stripes. See the Battery M for the 3rd Artillery for more information about this unit.
