18th Regiment Cavalry
New York Volunteers
Standard
42” hoist x 49” fly
Civil War

18th Cavalry Standard

Approximately 40% is lost from this flag carried by the 18th Cavalry, New York Volunteers. From what remains we can determine the flag includes the Arms of the State of New York painted on the obverse and the Arms of the City of New York painted on the reverse. The painted presentation inscription on the lower ribbon once read in full, "Presented by the City of New York." (2006.0138)

See the 18th Cavlary History Page for more information about this unit.
