6th Cavalry Regimental Flag

When the 6th Cavalry’s three-year muster expired in late 1864, the regiment continued in service as a “Veteran Volunteers.” This blue silk presentation flag dates to the unit’s service as veterans as indicated by the “N.Y.S.V.V.” in the upper-most ribbon. The arms of the State of New York and battle honors on the front, as well as the arms of the City of New York on the reverse, are all painted. (02.129)

See the 6th Cavalry Regiment History Page for more information about the unit.
