6th Regiment
NY Volunteer Infantry
General Guide Flag
18 3/4” hoist x 20” fly
Civil War

Flag of the 6th Regiment, NY Volunteer Infantry

Presented to the 6th Regiment NY Volunteer Infantry by Thomas C. Burns on behalf of the citizens of Staten Island, New York, this white silk guide flag retains most of its original painted inscription, “6th Regt. WILSON’S ZOUAVES.” Like many other flags within the collection, the fly edge sustained damage and some loss. The flag remains on its staff since removal would cause more harm to the delicate silk.
