9th Regiment, NY State Volunteers

On April 27, 1898, state officials selected the 9th Regiment to enter federal service as a volunteer regiment in the war against Spain. Mustered into service as the 9th Regiment, Infantry, NY Volunteers, the unit bivouacked at Camp Thomas until mustered out in November 1898. The 9th Regiment’s National Color features both its official federal designation and its National Guard affiliation. (97.68)
