Post Civil War

IX Corps flag

This red wool flag or banner includes a IX Corps badge featuring a red cannon crossing a blue fouled anchor on a white shield. The unique badge, adopted in April 1864, honors the corps' amphibious duties along the Atlantic seaboard in 1862. The white cotton band, at bottom, includes a painted inscription, in blue, with red lowlights. (2006.0319)
