N.Y.S.N.G. Mounted Troops Guidon
28" hoist x 40 1/2" fly
Late 19th-century

N.Y.S.N.G. Mounted Troops Guidon

This swallowtail guidon, for use by mounted troops, was pieced together with red and white silk, seamed along the horizontal center with a hand-sewn seam. The upper half includes "N.Y.S.N.G." in gold-colored paint with black lowlights. The lower white half should include a company letter in red. By the mid-1890s the upper inscription changed to "N.Y.". (1995.5633)
