5th Regiment NYG (Inactive) - DUI
Back to NYG Heraldry

5th Regt - Kingsbridge area of the Bronx. It replaced the 105th FA during WWII.
Its number is derived from the last digit of the 105th FA. "In Omnia Paratus"
- Prepared for All Things.
This DI's shape is a Type 3 shield with a downward curved banderol on its bottom.
The dull gold or bronze banderol bears the Regt's motto in light blue letters.
In the area between the bottom of the shield and the top of the banderol's center
in raised dull gold letter is 'NYG1. The background color of the shield is bright
light blue. On the upper left corner there is a small grey square bearing in
capital script dull gold letter 'WG', representing Washington Greys from which
the 2nd-105th FA NYNG descended. On the upper right corner there is a very small
maroon red Type 3 shield bearing a dark blue St. Andrew's X cross edged in white,
representing CW service. This comes from the 105th FA DI design. On the lower
left there is a small, almost square dull gold representation of the Verdun,
France castle gate; representing WW1 service. On the lower right there are a
pair of X crosses FA cannons. On the center of the shield there is a large,
dull gold numeral 5.
