Captain Charles Graham Bacon received, August 11, 1863, authority to recruit this battery. October 14, 1863, this authority was revoked, and the men already enlisted transferred to the 13th Artillery.

Thirty-sixth Independent Battery.—Recruiting for this battery was begun in Aug., 1863, and on Oct. 14, the men enlisted were assigned to the 13th N. Y. artillery (q. v.).
