Designated 7th Regiment of heavy artillery: December 19, 1862.

This regiment, organized in August, 1862, as a regiment of infantry, was converted
into a regiment of artillery, and designated the 7th Regiment of Artillery,
December 19, 1862; its record will be found under that heading.
