Mjr. Edward B. Knox Back to 44th Regiment During the Civil War Edward B. Knox: Age, 23 years. Enrolled August 8th, 1861 at Albany. Mustered into Company I as a first lieutenant September 23rd, 1861 for a three-year tour of duty. Made an adjutant September 25th, 1861. Wounded in action May 27th, 1862 at Hanover Court House, Va. Promoted to captain Company D July 4th, 1862 and mustered in as a major July 14th, 1862. Wounded in action May 8th, 1862 at Laurel Hill Va. Mustered out with regiment October 11th, 1864. Prior service as first lieutenant with Company A 11th New York Infantry. Back to 44th Regiment During the Civil War
