Lt. Col George W. Johnson Back to 49th Regiment During the Civil War
George W. Johnson: Age, 39 years. Enrolled August 1st, 1861 at Buffalo. Mustered in as a major October 21st, 1861 for a three-year tour of duty. Promoted to lieutenant colonel January 1st, 1863 and wounded in action July 12th, 1864 at Fort Stevens D.C. Died of his wounds July 29th, 1864. Back to 49th Regiment During the Civil War
