New York National Guard
The following is taken from New York in the War of the Rebellion, 3rd ed.

A large part of this regiment, then located in Onondaga county, and now not
in existence, entered the volunteer service in 1861, forming the nucleus of
the 12th Volunteer Regiment.
See here for a brief history of the State
Militia / National Guard.
