History
The following is taken from New York in the War of the Rebellion, 3rd ed. Frederick Phisterer. Albany: J. B. Lyon Company, 1912.

Left the State: June 21, 1863
Mustered out: July 25, 1863

Of this regiment, then located at Brooklyn, now not in existence, a portion went in the volunteer service in fall of 1862, forming Companies I and K of the 176th Volunteers; authority had been given to organize the regiment for a service of nine months; the organization failed, and the men who had volunteered were transferred as above.

June 18, 1863, the regiment was ordered to Harrisburg, Pa., to serve thirty days; it left (nine companies) the State June 21, 1863, commanded by Col. Mathias W. Cole, and served in the 3d Brigade, 1st Division, Department Susquehanna, and was mustered out July 25, 1863, at Brooklyn, N. Y.

In this service it lost one enlisted man, killed by lightning, and took part in a skirmish at Oyster Point, Pa., June 28, 1863.
