Mjr. Stephen Kovacs Back to 54th Regiment During the Civil War Stephen Kovacs: Age, 38 years. Enrolled September 7th, 1861 at Hudson City NJ. Mustered into Company K as a captain September 23rd, 1861 for a three-year tour of duty. Transferred to Company E October 16th, 1861 and mustered in as a major June 3rd, 1862. Captured and paroled prior to March 11th, 1864 and discharged June 2nd 1865. Mustered in again as a major June 20th, 1865 and mustered out with regiment April 14th, 1866. Back to 54th Regiment During the Civil War
