NEW YORK-- The New York Army National Guard Color Guard leads a contingent from Joint Forces Headquarters--New York up Fifth Avenue during the annual Veterans Day Parade Wednesday, Nov. 11 in New York City.
More than 1,500 members of the New York Army National Guard, including the famouse "Fighting 69th", the 1st Battalion 69th Infantry, the 1st Battalion 258th Field Artillery and the 369th Sustainment Brigade, which earned the nickname "Harlem Hellfighters" in World War I. Members of the New York Air National Guart also participated.
The Color Guard presented the flag during the opening ceremony of the New York Knicks game Wednesday night while Staff Sgt. Brooke Leavitt sang the National Anthem.
