BUFFALO--New York Air National Guard Col. Timothy Vaughan, Commander of the 107th Mission Support Group of the 107th Airlift Wing,(left) joins University of Buffalo Executive Vice President James A. Willis in honoring President Millard Fimore on Thursday, Jan. 7, the 210th anniversary of his birth.
Col. Vaughan laid a wreath from the White House on Fillmore's grave marker at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The New York National Guard and other military services assist the White House in laying wreaths to commemorate New York presidents. In the Albany area the Guard lays wreaths at the graves of Presidents Chester Arthur and Martin Van Buren.
Fillmore, who died in 1874, was president from 1850 to 1853 and was the last member of the Wig Party to serve as president.
He was founder of the University of Buffalo.
