Guard Helps Present WWII Vet Overdue Medals

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- New York Army National Guard Sgt. James Ader from the 501st Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD) congratulates John Sidur after he was presented long overdue recognitions 65 years after his actions in the Pacific during WWII.
Sidur, a lifelong Cohoes native a former member of the National Guard’s 27th Infantry Division, received his Purple Heart and New York State Conspicuous Service Star for actions on Okinawa during a family ceremony here August 15.
Both Soldiers served in upstate New York’s 105th Infantry Regiment. Ader continues the lineage of the infantry regiment after reorganization this decade into the 501st EOD.
