SLEEPY HOLLOW-- Members of the New York Guard's 56th Brigade, New York Guard Headquarters and New York City Department of Environmental Police officers participated in the 98th Aqueduct Defense Memorial Service, Honoring the First Provisional Regiment of the New York Guard on May 1st 2016, at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. The ceremony honors the gallant service of New York Guard Soldiers and New York City Department of Environmental Police predecessors who died protecting the New York City water system from sabotage during World War I. The deaths were a result of the influenza epidemic which swept the world in 1918.
