Press Invited To Meet With Pilots Who Will Be The Last To Fly F-16s From Syracuse Air Base
HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SYRACUSE, NY (03/01/2010)(readMedia)-- Members of the press are invited to interview the pilots who will fly away the last two F-16s being operated by the 174th Fighter Wing during a ceremony set for Saturday March 6 on Tuesday March 2, and also observe the ceremony marking the final flight of Lt. Col. Scott Brenton. Who: 174th Fighter Wing, Hancock Field, Syracuse What: Observe landing and ceremony for final F-16 flight of Lt. Col. Scott Brenton and speak with pilots-- Wing Commander Col. Kevin Bradley and Lt. Col. Dan Tester-- who will fly final two F-16s away from Hancock Field on Saturday March 6 Why: The 174th Fighter Wing is concluding its F-16 operations on March 6, 2010 when the final two F-16s will fly off from Hancock Field. A formal ceremony will be held at 2 pm on March 6 to commemorate that event. A separate media advisory inviting the press to this event will be distributed later this week. Because the pilots who will be flying the final two F-16s of base will not be available for interviews on March 6, we are making them available tomorrow. Col Charles Dorsey, Vice Wing Commander will be available for interview on 6 Mar. In addition, you will have the opportunity to witness the conclusion of the final F-16 flight of another pilot. When: Tuesday, March 2, 2010 - Arrive at base by 2:30 p.m. (Planes will land at approx. 3:15 p.m.) Where: 174th Fighter Wing, 6001 E. Molloy Road, DeWitt (use Molloy Road gate) Opportunities: Media members will be able to interview Lt. Col. Scott Brenton, who will be making his final flight on Tuesday, and Col. Kevin Bradley the 174th Wing Commander, about the history of the F-16 with the unit and how they feel about the last fighters leaving Hancock Field Air National Guard Base. There will be opportunities for imagery and video of the pilots climbing down from their planes.
