Steve Rowe, Clifton Park Resident, Promoted to Colonel in New York Army National Guard

LATHAM, NY (08/01/2014)(readMedia)-- Clifton Park resident Steve Rowe was promoted to Colonel in the New York Army National Guard during a Friday, August 1, ceremony at Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters here.

Rowe, an active duty office in the National Guard, currently oversees the Army National Guard personnel office at the Watervliet Arsenal, responsible for administrative support for more than 10,000 Soldiers across the state.

Rowe, a Buffalo native, was commissioned as a second lieutenant from SUNY Brockport in 1994. He has served in both the Active Army and the National Guard as an Armor Office and a member of the Adjutant General's Corps.

His jobs have included platoon leader, company commander, battalion personnel officer, brigade personnel officer, Assistant Professor of Military Science at Canisus College, New York Army National Guard Recruiting Battalion Commander, Deputy Director of Military Personnel for the New York Army National Guard and Executive Officer to the Adjutant General.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Rowe is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Adjutant General's Corps Captain Career Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College and the Advanced Operations Course. He is currently enrolled in the US Army War College.

He and his wife Heather have two children; Collin and Emma.
