New York National Guard 2014 Year in Review Video now available on YouTube

LATHAM, NY (05/06/2015)(readMedia)-- A video report on the New York National Guard's accomplishments in 2014 is now available on the New York National Guard's YouTube Channel.

The 18 minute video features the commanders of the New York Army National Guard's two general officer commands, five Air National Guard Wings and the Eastern Air Defense Sector talking about the things their Soldiers and Airmen did in 2014.

Highlights discussed in the video include:

• The deployment of the Army National Guard's 1569th Transportation Company, 133rd Quartermaster Company and 4th Finance Company to Afghanistan;

• The 369th Sustainment Brigade providing logistics support of exercises in Cameroon, Africa;

• Emergency response to a massive lake effect snowstorm which hit Erie County in November 2014;

• The 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade's deployment in Kuwait, which included training with Saudi and Jordanian troops;

• Successful Homeland Response Training to prepare troops to respond to a chemical, radiological, or biological incident;

• 109th Airlift Wing support for National Science Foundation Research in the Antarctic and Greenland;

• Worldwide operations by the 105th Airlift Wing and their success in standing up the only Base Defense Squadron in the Air National Guard;

• Deploying more than 250 members of the 106th Rescue Wing to Afghanistan;

• Transition of the 107th Airlift Wing to a remotely piloted aircraft unit;

• Continued Air Defense surveillance of US Airspace by the Eastern Air Defense Sector;

And 3,400 hours of flying time in support of deployed U.S. troops by the 174th Attack Wing which operates remotely piloted aircraft overseas.
