Brig. Gen. Kevin Bradley, a Manlius resident, promoted to two-star rank on June 22

LATHAM, N.Y. (06/19/2015)(readMedia)-- New York Air National Guard Brigadier General Kevin Bradley, a Manlius resident, Iraq War and Persian Gulf War veteran, and former commander of the 174th Fighter Wing, will be promoted to the rank of Major General (two-star) on Monday, June 22.

Bradley is a Manlius resident, Iraq War veteran, and former commander of the Syracuse-based 174th Fighter Wing. He has served in the Air Force and Air National Guard since 1984.

He will be promoted during a ceremony at New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters here.

Brig. Gen. Anthony German will also be promoted to Major General on Monday and will then assume command of the 5,900-,member New York Air National Guard.

Bradley currently serves as Assistant Adjutant General- Air, for the New York National Guard, while also serving as the National Guard Assistant to the Commander of United States Cyber Command. Cyber Command is responsible for defending U.S. computer and information networks and in wartime could initiate attacks on hostile nation's computer networks.

Bradley joined the Air Force in 1984 and began flying F-16s has an operational pilot in 1985. He joined the New York Air National Guard's 174th Fighter Wing at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in 1992. He served as a leader in F-16 fighter units at the squadron, group and wing level and has more than 3,700 hours of flight time in fighters.

Bradley participated in missions supporting Operation Northern Watch, Operation Southern Watch, Operation Provide Comfort in Iraq following the Persian Gulf War, and Operation Noble Eagle, the defense of the United States following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

He was named commander of the 174th Fighter Wing in 2008 and served in that position until 2012, overseeing the wing's transition from manned fighter to remotely piloted aircraft operations.

He then became Assistant Adjutant General –Air for the New York National Guard and also served as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Chief, Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer for the United States Air Force in Washington.

In 2014 he began serving as the Assistant to the Director of the Air National Guard at the Pentagon. In that position he was responsible for overseeing Air Guard plans and requirements for aircraft and strategic planning.

Bradley holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Embry-riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Collage. He is a graduate of the Air War College, the Joint Task Force Commander Training Course, the National Security Management Course at Syracuse University, the General and Flag Officer Course at National Defense University and the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course.

Bradley's awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He is married to Karen A. Bradley.
