New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing will conduct night training during July

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY (07/01/2015)(readMedia)-- Residents near F.S. Gabreski Air National Base may notice increased military aircraft activity and noise at night during the month of July.

Members of the New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing will be conducting night training using HC-130 search and rescue aircraft.

This training opportunity will enhance Para-rescuemen's response and skills needed during peacetime and wartime efforts.

Training flying hours will vary.The increased night flying should be finished by the end of July.

The 106th Rescue Wing deploys worldwide to provide combat search and rescue coverage for U.S. and allied forces.

The wing 's mission is to provide worldwide personnel recovery, combat search and rescue capability, expeditionary combat support, and civil search and rescue support to federal and state authorities.

The wing also provides personnel recovery to the state of New York and any deployed operations that they are tasked to support.

The wing operates the HC-130 search and rescue version of the Hercules transport and the HH-60 Pavehawk search and rescue helicopter.
