Lt. Col. Paul Conte, a Walkill resident, retires from New York Army National Guard

LATHAM, NY (08/13/2015)(readMedia)-- New York Army National Guard Lt. Col. Paul Conte, a resident of Walkill, has retired from the military after 26 years of service, to include 22 years in the National Guard.

Conte, received his commission as a second lieutenant through the Reserve Officers Training Program in 1988 and was trained as an artillery officer.

His assignments have included Company Fire Support Officer; Battalion Ammo Officer; Battery Commander; Battalion logistics officer; Battalion Commander; Brigade Executive Officer. He is a veteran of the Iraq war. His most recent job was serving as Construction Facilities Management Officer for the 10,500-member New York Army National Guard.

Conte is a graduate of Marist College, and the Army War College. His awards and badges include, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Parachutist Badge.

He and his wife Janet have a son, Zachery.
