TROY--Members of the New York National Guard Youth Program plant a rainbow of red geraniums, yellow marigolds and blue lobelias to celebrate Armed Forces Day May 18 at the headquarters 42nd Infantry Division Headquarters in Troy, N.Y. The NYNG Youth Program aims to support children of military-affiliated members and planted flowers in Troy and in Latham, N.Y.

Air Mobility Commander Visits 105th

STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Newburg- New York Air National Guard U.S. Staff Sgt. Raymond Ortiz, an aircraft maintainer, explained the C-5M refurbishment program to U.S. Air Force General Paul J. Selva the commnander of the Air Mobility Command, during a visit to the base on Friday, May 10. Also on hand were Maj Gen Verle L. Johnston commander of the New York Air National Guard, Col Timothy J. LaBarge commander 105 Airlift Wing, and Chief Master Sgt. Richard A. Andy Kaiser air mobility command chief .

369th Leaders Attend Army Africa Planning Session

VICENZA, Italy --New York Army National Guard Col. Reginald Sanders (left) the commander of the 369th Sustainment Brigade, joins Dr. Jeannot Essono Engueng (center) from the Military Forces of Central Africa, and Col. Frederick Ndjonkep, a member of the Military Operations Command of Cameroon during an exercise planning conference here in April. The 369th Sustainment Brigade has previously participated in exercises in Mali.

Finance Troops Mobilize for Overseas Service

NEW YORK -- New York Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, The Adjutant General congratulates Spc. Maurisa Massiah prior to her mobilization ceremony for active duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. 27 Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard's 27th Finance Company said goodbye to friends and family at the unit mobilization ceremony at the American Legion Post 131 in Whitestone on Friday, May 10 as the Soldiers prepare to leave for a deployment overseas. Soldiers Get SHARP

LATHAM-- Retired Army Sgt. Major Nancy Mathis speaks to Army National Guard Soldiers enrolled in SHARPS-- Sexual Harrassment/Assault Response and Prevention-- program training at Division of Military and Naval Affairs Headquarters on Thursday, May 9. Fifty-nine National Guard NCOs and officers from New York, Connecticut, Oklahoma, North Dakota and Minnesota are taking the two-week class here. The class gives leaders the insight and information they need to implement programs designed to create a professional workplace in their units. New York Army National Guard currently has 106 SHARP-trained advisors in its units.
