FARMINGDALE--Retired Command Sgt. Major Bob VanPelt, Program Coordinator of the New York National Guard Job Zone, presents David Rivera, Program Manager of the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, with a keepsake to thank him for his support of a job fair held for veterans and serving New York National Guard Soldiers at the Farmingdale Armed Forces Reserve Center on Feb 10. Looking on is New York Army National Guard 1st Lt. David Myones, supervisor of the Field Maintenance Shop at Farmingdale and commander of Company F 427th Brigade Support Battalion.Eighty employers took part in the event which was visited by 175 Soldiers and Veterans.

Clarke, Commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region (CONR)/1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern). The passing of the guidon of the New York Air National Guard unit symbolizes Col. Deskins assumption of command. Also pictured is Command Chief Master Sergeant Richard King, the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the New York Air National Guard.

Air Combat Command Leader Visits Hancock Field

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Syracuse --U. S. Air Force Gen. Mike Hostage, Air Combat Command (ACC) Commander, speaks to the Men and Woman of the 174th Fighter Wing and other New York Air National Guard units at Hancock Field in the Main Hanger on 9 Feb. 2012. The visit by the ACC Commander was an opportunity for Hostage to meet with the unit members on a more basic level. Hostage spoke on the relevance of the MQ-9 Reaper Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) mission at Hancock Field. All base personnel were invited and encouraged by Gen. Hostage to ask him questions openly.

369th Soldiers Train in Mali

MOPTI, Mali--New York Army National Guard Command Sgt. Maj. Justin Lenz, a Bellmore, N.Y. native with the 369th Sustainment Brigade and Malian army Lt. Abdrahamane Kone, a native from Mopti, Mali acting as Security Operations for Malian Defense Force, have a discussion after the opening ceremony of Atlas Accord "12 Feb. 9, at Mopti Airfield. Coordinating operations and exchanging ideas for Atlas Accord "12, a U.S. Army Africa-sponsored bilateral humanitarian and partnership exercise focusing on aerial resupply to remote areas. The 369th sent 35 Soldiers to participate in the logistics exercise.

National Guard Responders Train at Fort Hamilton

FORT HAMILTON, Brooklyn - The 24th Civil Support Team conducts training by identifying agents and substances, assessing current and projected consequences here. The 24th CST is based at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn.Their mission is to support civil authorities at a domestic Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Enhanced high-yield explosives (CBRNE) incident site with identification and assessment of hazards, advice to civil authorities and facilitating the arrival of follow-on military forces during emergencies and incidents of weapons of mass destruction terrorism, intentional and unintentional release of CBRNE materials and natural or man-made disasters in the United States the result in, or could result in, catastrophic loss of life or property.
