Ribbon-Cutting for $20.5 million Camp Smith Shop

CAMP SMITH--U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Raymond Shields, commander of the New York Army National Guard , U.S. Army Col. Scott Cleaveland, the New York Army National Guard construction and facilities management officer, U.S. Army Maj. Chad Clark, the facility engineer at Camp Smith Training Site, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 William Viana, Camp Smith maintenance supervisor, all with the New York Army National Guard, cut the ribbon during the opening ceremony of the Camp Smith Combined Maintenance Shop in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., June 21, 2018. The state-of-the-art 40,830 square foot maintenance building replaces the former facility, which was built in 1949, and is designed to support approximately 1,200 vehicles assigned to Army National Guard units from the Mid-Hudson Valley down to the Bronx.

Soldiers, Civilian responders train at Camp Smith

CAMP SMITH TRAINING SITE--New York Army National Guard Spc. David Sharbowicz a member of the 1156th Engineer Company treats a victim played by a Marine Reserve member during a joint civilian-military emergency drill at the New York National Guards Camp Smith Training Site near Peekskill N.Y. on Saturday June 13. Troops Celebrate Army Birthday at Camp Smith

CAMP SMITH TRAINING SITE, CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- More than 40 New York Army National Guard Soldiers gathered here June 14th at the Chaplain Duffy Chapel/Spiritual Fitness Center to celebrate the Army’s 237th Birthday with the cutting of an Army birthday cake to celebrate the event. The cake was cut by the oldest member in attendence,, Master Sgt. David McGlynn, from the Camp Smith Range Control staff, and the units youngest Soldier , Spc. Guard Training Unit Welcomes New Leadership

Newest Readiness Center Opened

A formal opening ceremony for the $30 million Readiness Center at Camp Smith which will serve as the home for approximately 350 National Guard soldiers assigned to Headquarters, 53rd Troop Command; Company C, 1st Battalion 69th Infantry; the 42nd Infantry Division Band; the 727th Military Police Detachment and elements of the 1156th Engineer Company, as well as an Army National Guard recruiting office.

Camp Smith Emergency Drills Tested

Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard and the Army Reserve's 310th Military Police Battalion work with members of the Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps during an emergency responder drill conducted Saturday, October 18 at Camp Smith Training Site in Cortlandt Manor. The exercise tested the ability of Camp Smith personnel, and local civilian first responders to cope with a casualty at one of the trqaining area's ranges. The exercise, which also involved a Life Net of New York emergency medical helicopter, simulated a gunshot wound to a member of the Uniondale-based 310th MPs while training on Camp Smith's Range 1. Members of the Continental Village Fire Department, the Westchester County Emergency Management Office, and the New YOrk Guard, the state's volunteer defense force, also participated.
