BROOKLYN--Major General Denise Donnell, the commander of the New York Air National Guard administers the oath of enlistment to Air Force recruit while taking part in a ceremony marking the renovation of the Air Force recruiting office on Flatbush Avenue. She was joined by city officials in reopening the building and swearing in new Airmen.

NY Air Guard civilian is tops in all Air Guard

LATHAM--Amber Murray the management support specialist for the New York Air National Guard headquarters has been recognized as the top civilian employee in the Air National Guard for 2022 Latham New York Jan. 25 2023. Winning the Air Force Association Lisa S. Disbrow Outstanding Civilian of the Year for the Air National Guard will now see Murray go for overall Air Force civilian honors out of more than 170000 Air Force civilians.

NY Air Guard honors 8th President

KINDERHOOK--Brig. General Denise Donnell the commander of the New York Air National Guard and Command Chief Master Sgt. Jeffery Trottier salute after placing a wreath from President Joseph Biden at the grave of President Martin Van Buren in Kinderhook New York on the 240th anniversary of his birth on Dec. 5 1782. Since 1967 military officers have presented a wreath from the current president at the gravesite of previous presidents on the anniversary of their birth.

Command Chief hangs out at Stewart

STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE- New York Air National Guard State Command Chief Denny Richardson begins to descend from a training tower at the 213th Engineering Squadron at Stewart Air National Guard Base on June 5, 2021. The 213th is responsible for installing communications infrastruction which can range from building radio towers and satellite stations to installing fiber optic cable. Squadron members are required to certify annually on the skills needed to climb a radio tower and use the tower at Stewart for training.

Airmen mark last day for Air Force uniform

NEW YORK--New York Air National Guard Airmen assigned to the New York State vaccination site at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan marked the last day that the Airman Battle Uniform introduced in 2007 could be officially worn on March 31 2021. Pictured are from left Lt. Col. Ernest Lancto a member of the 174th Attack Wing; Staff Sergeant Meraldo Delgado of the 105 Airlift Wing; Tech. Sergeant Christopher Coolbaugh a member of the 105th Airlift Wing; and Major Major Alison Becker a member of the 224th Air Defense Group. The older uniform has been replaced by the Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform developed by the Army.

Long Time Air Guard Enlisted Leader Retires

STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Newburgh--Retiring New York Air National Guard Command Chief Master Sgt. Hardy Pierce (right) displays the retirement gift just presented to him by New York Air National Guard Commander Major General James W. Kwiatkowski, during a retirement ceremony on Sunday, March 6. He was presented with a National Guard Historic Painting "Runway Alert" commemorating the 138th Fighter Squadron of the New York Air National Guard shortly after World War II. Pierce joined the Air Force in 1970 and served as top enlisted Airman in the 6,000 member New York Air National Guard. His replacement is Command Chief Master Sgt. Richard King.

New York Airman Takes Charge in Baghdad

SATHER AIR BASE, Iraq -- Col. Fred Cheney (left) the 447th Air Expeditionary Group commander, passes the 447th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron's guide on to New York Air National Guardsman Lt. Col. Carey Merritt, the 447 ECES commander, during a change of command ceremony held on May 10. Merritt is deployed from the 174th Mission Support Group, New York Air National Guard, where he commands the 174th's Civil Engineering Squadron. Sather Air Base, located alongside Baghdad International Airport is named after Staff Sgt. SCott Sather, the first Airman to die during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
