STATEN ISLAND--New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Combined Support Maintenance Shop B on Staten Island poses with the State Maintenance Management Office trophy for Best Annual Performing Shop on March 18, 2026.
The Soldiers were recognized for their efforts in maintaining high performance standards in critical areas of administrative processes, maintenance management, supply discipline, physical security, and safety compliance. The Soldiers did all this while Soldiers assigned to the shop were supporting the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), and the deployment of the 42nd Infantry Division .

BROOKLYN-- New York Governor Kathy Hochul speaks during funeral services for New York Army National Guard Major Sorffly Davius on March 27, 2026 at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn. Davius, a member of the 42nd Infantry Division headquarters died while on duty in Camp Buehring, Kuwait as the result of a medical emergency. Davius had deployed to the region with the 42nd Infantry Division in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Along with the governor, New York City Mayor Zorhan Mandani, and New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch attended the funeral, along with Major General Raymond Shield, the adjutant general of New York. more

BUFFALO--New York Army National Guard recruiters render honors during a memorial service for New York Army National Guard Spc. Eh Kaw Ku held on March 19 at the Masten Avenue Armory in Buffalo. Ku enlisted July 2024 and was attending Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon Georgia where he was preparing to serve as a signal operations support specialist when he became ill. He died on February 19 2026 at the age of 18 at Wellstar Hospital in Augusta Georgia following a sudden illness. more

Davius a member of the New York Police Department who also served in the New York National Guards New York City security force died in a non-combat incident while serving with the 42nd Infantry Division in Kuwait on March 6 2026. His remains were transferred from Dover Air Force Base to Brooklyn for March 27 2026 funeral services. more

NEW YORK-- New Soldiers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment also known as the "Fighting 69th" lead the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City on March 17 2026. The 69th began the celebration at St. Patrick's Cathedral with a ceremonial mass and marched uptown on Fifth Avenue from 44th to 79th Street. The Regiment was joined during the march by New York National Guard leaders from across New York State and the 42nd Infantry Division Band. more

Catholics traditionally have ashes placed on their forehead to mark the start of the Lenten season and symbolize the need for spiritual renewal. Zhiminaycela, a member of C. Company, 119th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, is working in the command cell for the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision support mission.

STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE -- The 105th Airlift Wing's Civil Engineer Squadron and Logistic Readiness Squadron teamed up to keep the ramps and runways clear and ready for operations when the big snow storm hit on January 25 and 26. Members from the squadron stayed through the night of the storm for snow removal operations and continued working into the week past the storm as well. They cleared roads, sidewalks, parking lots and the flight line. more

Nicholas Korines played a key role as liaison to the New York National Guard as Guard forces stood up to take on duties at 41 New York Correctional Facilities on February 18 2025. Shields praised both men for the work they did assisting New York National Guard planners and leaders in carrying out this mission that involved more the 7400 personnel at its peak. more

The painting, which once hung in the Hendrick Hudson Hotel in Troy, New York is going to be conserved and displayed at the military museum in time for the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Saratoga in 2027. more

Its an honor to pay respect to a former president on behalf of the current one Rodgers said.
