Camp Whitman Camp Whitman: May-July 1916, Dutchess County, Green Haven. Camp established on the State Industrial Farm at Beekman for the mobilization training of New York State Troops from 9-22 July 1916. Site was 825 acres and was named for Governor Whitman. NYS appropriated $500,000 for the camp and contracts were issued for water and sewer systems, buildings, latrines, baths, etc. Commander was MG O'Ryan, 27th Division.
