1st Artillery, Battery A Guidon

The NYS Battle Flag Collection includes one flag carried by Battery A, 1st Artillery (Light), NY Volunteers, a silk swallowtail guidon in the “stars and stripes” pattern prescribed in General Order No. 4, dated January 18, 1862. The flag includes a painted inscription in the 34 star canton and painted inscriptions next to, and below, the canton. All the inscriptions are painted in gold with black lowlights and cream highlights. Flag dimensions are: 28 1/2” hoist X 36 1/2” fly. (2004.0076)
