159th Regiment, NY Volunteer Infantry Regimental Color 76” hoist x 79” fly, Civil War

159th Infantry Flag

The New York State Battle Flag Collection includes a painted silk Regimental Color carried by the 159th Regiment. The color features the arms and motto of the United States complete with 35 gold painted stars in two arcs (18 over 17). The lower ribbon, with raised center section and an ornate gold border and tails, includes the regiment’s numeric designation. This flag entered the New York State Battle Flag collection on November 27, 1865.(2004.0098)
