18 years old upon enlistment.
Enlisted on 5/26/1862 at Newburgh, NY as a Sergeant.
On 5/26/1862 he mustered into Co. I NY 19th Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 9/6/1862 at Newburgh, NY
On 11/26/1862 he was promoted to 1st Lt. and transferred into Co. I NY 168th Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 10/31/1863 at Newburgh, NY
On 2/3/1864 he was promoted to Capt. and transferred to Co. M 15th NY Heavy Artillery
On 6/17/1864 he was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Petersbury, VA
Refused to leave field after being wounded, and led assault on enemy's works.
On 5/22/1865 he was promoted to Major.
He was Mustered Out on 8/22/1865 at Washington, DC

died 5/14/1924 in Brooklyn, NY
Buried: The Green Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY
