1st Lt. William Hoffman
22 years old upon enlistment.
Enlisted on 4/25/1861 at New York City, NY as a Sergeant.
On 5/9/1861 he mustered into "G" Co. NY 5th Infantry
Promoted to 2nd Lt. and transferred to Co. I on 7/26/1862.
Promoted to 1st Lt. and transferred to Co. B on 9/24/1862
Promoted to Capt. on 12/27/1862.
He was Mustered Out on 5/14/1863 at New York, NY
On 8/29/1863 he was commissioned into NY 13th Light Artillery
He was Mustered Out on 8/24/1865
(Subsequent service in US Army from 05/11/1866 until retiring 06/08/1894)
