Major Michael Golden - OIC, New York Naval Militia Unmanned Arial Syatems UnitMajor Michael P. Golden was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps in May 2009 after graduating from Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Norwich University, which is also known as the Military College of Vermont. He was assigned as an 0402 Logistics Officer and served on active duty as a motor transport platoon commander with 2nd Marine Division Camp Lejeune North Carolina and with First Battalion Sixth Marine Regiment deploying to Helmond Providence Afghanistan.

Major Golden completed service in the Marine Corps Reserve in 2016, being assigned to 6th Communications Battalion, Brooklyn, NY, having served as a platoon commander and executive officer of Headquarters Company and completing annual training in Cameroon and Morocco.

After joining the New York Naval Militia in February 2020, Major Golden was activated on state active duty March 2020 for the initial response to the Corona Virus Pandemic serving in every position at the J4 ALOC (Administration and Logistics Operations Center). He has served as the Personnel Action Team commander, deputy N-1, N-1, and in 2024 was appointed as the Officer in Charge of the newly created Unmanned Ariel Surveillance Unit.

His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, and the New York State Medal for Meritorious Service. Additionally, he received the Military Order of the World Wars Silver Patrick Henry Service Medal for significant patriotic contributions to the cause of patriotism and is an Eagle Scout.

Major Golden holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Norwich University, as well as a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. He graduated High School from LaSalle Institute, Troy, NY.

Since 2014 he has worked in the Criminal Justice field starting as a Criminal Investigator and Firearms Instructor with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Major Golden is currently serving as the Deputy Director for the New York State Department of Labor Office of Special Investigations (OSI) overseeing eight field offices throughout New York State in the detection and prevention of billions of dollars in Unemployment Insurance fraud. He was also appointed in 2022 as the Veteran Member to the Town of Milton’s 250Th Revolutionary War Committee.

Major Golden is married to Dr. Krista Golden, who is a pharmacist with Woodmark, they have between them four daughters, Kaylee, Ella, Claira, and Eva
