WHO:

Area Army National Guard Recruiting Commander Major David Palmieri will enlist Dennis Doten. Along with Timothy Doten family members Angelina Doten and Karissa Alonzo, Dennis Doten’s daughters, will be in attendance, along with members of the Volunteer Fire Department. American Legion Post members will also attend.

WHAT:

Former Marine Dennis Doten enlists in the New York Army National Guard at a farewell party honoring his son, PFC Timothy Doten, as he prepares to deploy to Afghanistan with 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry , New York Army National Guard.

Dennis Doten served in the United States Marine Corps as a food service specialist from 1983 to 1987. He will be joining the 1147th Transportation Company in Whitehall, New York as an 88M, truck driver. Doten has been a member of the Arvin Hart Fire Department since 2001 and prior to that served with the Riverside Fire Department beginning in 1981. He is holding the party Sunday to honor his son who is due to leave for duty in Afghanistan at the end of September.
