American Legion Riders Rally for Deploying Guardsmen
Motorcycle Poker Run to benefit Army Guard Soldiers bound for Afghanistan
WHO:
Soldiers and families from Company B, 427th Brigade Support Battalion join with the American Legion Riders for and end of rally celebration.
WHAT:
Motorcycle Poker Run benefit to raise awareness and support for about 100 deploying Citizen Soldiers from the Rochester-based Company B, 427th Brigade Support Battalion, N.Y. Army National Guard
WHEN:
Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 beginning at 11 a.m. in Williamson and finishing in Wolcott at approximately 4 p.m.
WHERE:
The American Legion Riders depart from Williamson Post 394 and ride through Newark, Marion, Ontario, Sodus Point, Hannibal and return to Wolcott American Legion Post 881.
Citizen Soldiers from Central New York benefit from the support and activities of another local area veterans’ group, the American Legion Riders with a motorcycle run to increase awareness and support for the troops upcoming mobilization and deployment to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. The American Legion Riders (ALR) are members of the American Legion who are also motorcycle enthusiasts. They participate in parades, motorcycling events, and support the communities in which they live. Members of the ALR come from the Legion, the Legion Auxilliary, and the Sons of the American Legion. Members of the American Legion Riders from Williamson have “adopted” the New York Army National Guard’s Company B, 427th Brigade Support Battalion and will continue their efforts to raise awareness, support and funds for the unit’s family readiness group during the Soldier’s deployment to Afghanistan in 2008.
