WHO:

Students in grades K-5 and teachers from Glencliff Elementary School and members of the New York Air National Guard.

WHAT:

The 109th Airlift Wing is hosting a tour for Glencliff Elementary School and also presenting the school with thank you gifts from a school in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland for school supply donations. The tour will begin with a presentation by Maj. Matt LeClair, to include the gifts from Greenland. After that, students will tour the fire house, the aerial port as well as the wing’s ski-equipped LC-130

WHEN:

Monday, June 9, 2008. Students will arrive on base at 9:45 AM.

WHERE:

Stratton Air National Guard Base, 1 Air National Guard Road, Scotia, NY.

Glencliff has donated school supplies along with corresponding with the Greenland school and is just one example of the community’s involvement. Many 109th Airlift Wing members have also made special efforts with community outreach to the Greenland school. The wing hosted a community day in Kangerlussuaq recently where school supplies from BHBL schools were donated. Wing members were able to get playground equipment and toys as well to donate to the Greenland school. The presentation to Glencliff will be between 10-10:30 a.m. Media are invited to interview students, teachers and wing members at the conclusion of the tour around 12:30 p.m. Photographs and video from the Kangerlussuaq community day are available through the 109th Public Affairs/Multimedia Office.
