Gov. David Paterson coins New York Army National Guard Leader

1st Lt. Tara Dawe Will Lead MP Company She Served in As Enlisted Soldier to Iraq in 2010

TARRYTOWN, NY (12/07/2009)(readMedia)-- New York Governor David Paterson (right) "coins" New York Army National Guard 1st Lt. Tara Dawes, on Saturday Dec. 5, during a visit to the 442nd Military Police Company's Yellow Ribbon pre-mobilization meeting at the Marriott Hotel here, as Major General Joseph Taluto, the Adjutant General of New York, looks on. Coining is an Army tradition in which commanders' '"coins" are presented to troops to recognize their outstanding achievements. Dawes, the commander of the New York Army National Guard's 442nd Military Police Company , was presented with one of Governor Paterson's destinctive coins in recognition of her outstanding service to the National Guard. Dawe, who deployed the 442nd to Iraq in 2003-2004 as an enlisted Soldier, and since then has gone on to earn a commission, will lead the company back to Iraq in 2010.
