New York Army National Guard At The Ulster County Fair

NEW PALTZ, NY (08/01/2010)-- Reporters looking for a different story at the Ulster County Fair are invited to stop by the New York Army National Guard recruiting station at the fair. National Guard Soldiers will be available to talk to visitors about their service and fair goers can compete for prizes at a football toss station. A humvee like those used in Iraq and Afghanistan will also be available to examine. WHO: New York Army National Guard Recruiters. WHAT: Army National Guard recruiting display at the Ulster County Fair. A humvee will be available for visitors to examine and the National Guard recruiters will be offering prizes to fairgoers who hit the target of the football toss game which will be set up. WHEN: Daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. August 3 to August 8. WHERE: Near the 4-H milkshake booth at the Ulster County Fairgrounds, 249 Libertyview Road, New Paltz Reporters looking for more information should contact Sgt. 1st Class John Gallo (cell) 845-380-3290 Background: he New York Army National Guard, with a membership of about 10,500 Soldiers is currently at 100 percent strength. National Guard Recruiters, though, are continually seeking new Soldiers to fill job and education opportunities available in units across the state. Throughout the summer months New York Army National Guard recruiters will be manning booths at country fairs to let the public and potential Soldiers know more about the force.
