Deployed 174th Fighter Wing Airmen to Run Simultaneously with Local Racers

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, NY (10/08/2010)-- Members of the press are invited to the attend the Hometown Heroes Run at Onondaga Lake Park on Saturday October 9 at 8:30 a.m. during which members of the 174th Fighter Wing currently deployed to Afghanistan will run simultaneously with local family, friends and fellow unit members.
Who: Members of the 174th Fighter Wing, Hancock Field, Syracuse
What: Observe Hometown Heroes Run/Walk involving over 200 military and non-military racers to support New York National Guard family readiness programs. Among the runners will be the family and friends of deployed airmen from the 174th Fighter Wing, who will be running simultaneously in Afghanistan. Interviews will be available with the family members of the deployed airmen and you can observe the start of the Run/Walk plus a separate Fun Run for Kids.
Why: All proceeds of the Hometown Heroes Run will go to the New York National Guard Family Readiness Council, which helps support families of deployed New York National Guard members.
