Background:
The 107th was assigned to Joint Task Force Guantanamo and provided security for the military detention facilities at the base. The Military Police Soldiers mobilized in June 2011 for one year of federal active duty.
The Soldiers completed their demobilization tasks at Fort Bliss, Texas last week prior to their return home.
The company is headquartered in Utica, but the Soldiers come from across the state. While most Soldiers will meet with family members in Utica and be released from there, Soldiers from outside the region will continue on to hometown armories: two in Hornell, four in Rochester and five to Auburn. An additional 23 Soldiers will be taken home to the Jamaica Armory in Brooklyn and one Soldier will be returned to Latham
